Governing Obesity
The objective of this interdisciplinary research project, Governing Obesity, is to provide new methods, insights, and approaches for the prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity through effective interventions at the individual and the societal level.
Obesity is not only a simple problem but is also a complex phenomenon and an ideal showcase for multidisciplinary research. The research project brings together researchers from the humanities, social sciences, and biomedical research areas, with the aim of jointly developing an improved understanding of obesity. The focus is on early detection and prevention, physical activity, and lifestyle practices. With this knowledge and insight, we can better design effective interventions and enhance prevention and treatment.
CoRe researchers contributes by exploring how health and illnessare shaped, experienced, and understood in everyday life, considering issues related to compliance and intervention in practice. Moreover, the focus is on the cultures of medicine, examining how scientific claims are negotiated and interpreted in interdisciplinary settings.
Through ethnographic methods, CoRe researchers explores the complexity of the concept of obesity by examining how different scientific disciplines address the concept. This knowledge can contribute to the development of new models and tools for improving the prevention and treatment of obesity and overweight.
