The good later life in Esbjerg
A new research project based at Copenhagen Centre for Health Research in the Humanities (CoRe) and Center for Healthy Aging (CEHA) at the University of Copenhagen, studies ideas of the good life among older people and municipal employees in the city of Esbjerg.
The research team is conducting a qualitative study of the everyday practices and the life experiences of older citizens, and the ways they are engaged locally. The research will bring new insights into how the Municipality of Esbjerg can support good later lives in ways that correspond with the lives of the older citizens.
The project studies local communities for older people in Esbjerg such as activity groups, unions of retired fishermen at the harbor and church support groups. Through qualitative studies of these communities possibilities and barriers of collaboration with the municipality of Esbjerg are explored.
The researchers conduct interviews and observational studies plus organize an investigatory workshop with stakeholders. The project will result in oral and written presentations of project outcomes.
The project is headed by postdoc Aske Juul Lassen and associate professor Astrid Jespersen. Research assistant, Cammilla Bundgård Toft, is daily coordinator of the project. Based at Copenhagen Centre for Health Research in the Humanities and Centre for Healthy Aging at the University of Copenhagen.
